1. Make full use of the reading time

Most of the examination bodies like CBSE and ICSE provide a reading time of 15 minutes before the exam begins. Before reading the question paper you should already know which questions carry the maximum marks and how has the paper been divided into sections. You should understand that you will get this time only once and you have to utilize this time to the fullest. Read all questions twice and very carefully. Everyone has their own preference of the type of questions they want to begin with. You should begin with the questions which you are most confident about because their is no “one way” of attempting the accountancy exam.

Remember to label all answers and try leaving 2-3 lines in between all answers.

3. Rough Work and Working Notes

Working notes are required in all practical questions and carry marks. Don’t try to fake working notes, keep them as natural as possible. All the rough work should be done on a separate sheet. Do not draw a margin on the side because formats take a lot of space.

4. Formats

Accounting is all about formats. Even though no one makes formats in real life these days but it is a requirement in our education system because you actually get to learn the whole process by hand. It’s always good if your foundation is strong. Remember to always use pencils while making all your formats no matter how lazy you feel. Never forget to write details like Dr. for Debit, Cr. for Credit , Date, Particulars, amount and all the headings for Financial statements because the little things matter the most and will make your answer complete.
